Professional Bio
Dr. Hany Atwa graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University in Egypt. After graduation, he joined the Medical Education Department at the same University and got his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Medical Education, and continued the promotion to the position of Professor of Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University. In addition, Hany has obtained the Fellowship from the International FAIMER Institute (IFI) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Now he is working, besides working at his home university in Egypt, as an Associate Professor and Head of the Medical Education Department at the College of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Arabian Gulf University in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Hany has also obtained a postgraduate degree in Pediatrics and is classified by the Egyptian Medical Syndicate as a Consultant of General Pediatrics. Hany is a faculty and advisor at Ain Shams University FAIMER Regional Institute of the Middle East and North Africa (ASU-MENA-FRI). Hany is working also in distance learning and is currently a planner and instructor of educational units on “Student Assessment” in both the Joint Master of Health Professions Education (JMHPE) (run jointly by Suez Canal University in Egypt and Maastricht University in The Netherlands) and the Diploma of Health Professions Education (DHPE) at Suez Canal University. Hany published a number of research articles in the different fields of medical and health professions education, including curriculum development, student assessment, evidence-based medicine, professionalism, innovation in medical education, online learning … etc. in prestigious scientific journals, besides several oral and poster presentations at international conferences on medical and health professions education.
