Professional Bio
Jo is the Head of Curriculum for Bond University’s MD Program.
Jo contributes significantly to international discussions on student support and medical education pedagogy. A key role is to ensure a harmonised transition of graduates into the workforce.
As the current president of ANZAHPE (Australian and New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators) Jo is aware of the national and international discussions and challenges faced for the future health professional.
Jo has over a decade of experience as a curriculum lead and as an anatomist and former stem cell biologist sees herself as a medical sciences educator.
Jo is the chair of the Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand (MDANZ) Student and Staff Support Committee (SSSC) a forum for medical schools to collaborate together and with student leads on best practice approaches to improving the health of students and staff, including developing evidence-based strategies and sharing ideas, experiences and resources.
As the member of the National Doctors Health and Wellbeing Leadership Alliance as representing MDANZ as well as a member of the executive Jo I s committed to the improve the mental health of doctors and medical students by championing the implementation of –Every Doctor, Every setting. We all have a role as an induvial and as a leader in an organisation.
Jo contributed to the publication of the Medical student wellbeing – a consensus statement from Australia and New Zealand in 2019 and led the writing of the Learner wellbeing chapter in the Understanding Medical Education; Evidence, Theory and Practice textbook
