Professional Bio
Karen Fung is the Lead Psychometrician at the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC). She has extensive experience as a psychometrician in large-scale educational assessments and high-stakes licensing/certification examinations. Her expertise covers many aspects of assessments, including but not limited to Item and Test Development, Automatic Item Generation, Linking and Equating, Computer-Based Testing, Survey development, and Research design. Karen earned her M.Ed. in Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Saskatchewan, and attained her Ph.D. in Measurement, Evaluation and Data Science from the University of Alberta. Aside from her role at PEBC, Karen is actively involved in educational research, particularly in using statistical methods and machine learning models to examine factors that contribute to student performances to support teaching and learning. Karen is also the Communications Officer at the Canadian Educational Researchers’ Association (CERA).
