Professional Bio
Dr Katie Wynne will be the Program Convenor for the Joint Medical Program (JMP) at University of Newcastle / University of New England from 2024. In her current role as Year 5 course coordinator, she led the development and implementation of the inaugural years of the medical curriculum in Year 4, and the Year 5 course in 2021. She was Phase 3 Discipline lead for medicine (2019-2020), established the JMP Pre-internship conference (2021-current), directed the Assistant in Medicine program (AiM 2021-current), sat on the strategic medical education research committee (2022-current) and is lead for Graduate Outcomes Research Group (2023-current). In her previous role she was Head of Graduate Entry Medicine at Imperial College London (2010-2012) and sat on the Royal College of Physicians (London) Education, training and exams committee and the Academy of Medical Sciences Revalidation and Recertification committee (2008-2010). Dr Wynne has a research interest in the role of gender in education and LGBTQI+ Health. She is clinical lead for the Queer MedEd program aimed at increasing faculty competency and capability; this project was awarded the ‘Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award’ at the College of Medicine, Health and Wellbeing, University of Newcastle 2022 and was presented as a workshop at ANZAPHE and AMEE (2023). Dr Wynne is an executive member of the Australian Professional Association for Transgender Health and a member of the ACCLAiM (Australasian Collaboration for Clinical Assessment in Medicine) Research Committee. She is dedicated to supporting inclusivity in the education of health professionals and the delivery of care for their patients.
