Professor Elizabeth Ann (Liz) Farmer MB BS BSc PhD FRACGP MAICD is an independent health sector consultant who specializes in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing health professional education and assessment, accreditation, revalidation and policy development. Following professorial medical education roles at Flinders University and Dean of Medicine and the Roberta Williams Chair of Medicine at the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Wollongong NSW, she entered a Federal Government role as the Executive Director, Workforce Innovation and Reform at Health Workforce Australia. She has served the Australian Medical Council (AMC) for over a decade as Assessment Consultant, a past Director and past Chair, Prevocational Standards Accreditation Committee, which accredits both intern training and AMC workplace based assessment providers. She is currently the Chair of the AMC Clinical Examination Research Group and Deputy Chair of the AMC Clinical Assessment Panel. Professor Farmer also leads the delivery of training for Examiners and Simulated Patients for both face to face and online clinical examinations for the AMC. She is also leading a research project on the cognitive aspects of marking for AMC examiners in Online settings. Professor Farmer has recently chaired the National Expert Advisory Group on Revalidation for the Medical Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority). She is an Independent Board Director of Guide Dogs South Australia and Northern Territory.
