Professional Bio

Maryam Wagner is an Assistant Professor of Health Sciences Education and an education lead in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University. Dr. Wagner works with a variety of health professionals including nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and physicians to advance assessment research and practice. Additionally, she leads and participates in a variety of program evaluation initiatives within these health profession domains including the development of standardized tools for assessing nursing clinical competence, and coaching students. Her research focuses primarily in assessment in surgical education focusing on validity, defining and measuring surgical constructs. She has participated in a variety of research investigations including tracking medical students’ learning progressions in technology-rich learning environments, a validation study of a language assessment framework, and the development and validation of a multimodal scenario-based assessment system. Additionally, Maryam has acquired expertise in a range of research methods and methodologies including mixed methods research design.
