Pamela Timanson

Competence Director - Alberta College of Pharmacy

Professional Bio

Pamela Timanson is the Competence Director for the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP), and an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta. Pamela earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Educational Administration and Leadership. Her doctoral research focused on the examination of how teachers learn informally within the knowledge culture of their workplace. Prior to entering her directorship position, Pamela taught undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Education and facilitated online modules and held research positions with the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She was also a high school science teacher for 12 years. Since joining ACP, Pamela has led the development of a professionalism framework and licensee education program, and currently leading a project to evolve the competence program and fully implement a practice improvement program. She currently serves as a board member for the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy and a member of National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities' Culture of Professionalism and Entry-to-Practice Competencies working groups.
