Stephen practised as consultant surgeon in regional Victoria for 27 years. During this time, he became increasingly involved in medical and surgical education, providing leadership within three medical schools and later as RACS Dean of Education. His current academic role commenced in 2019, implementing app-based EPAs, performance analytics, non-graded assessment, and new quality/safety curriculum.
