Professor Sumaiya Adam is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Maternal and Fetal specialist at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and the University of Pretoria in Pretoria, South Africa. In addition to clinical service and her research focused on diabetes in pregnancy, she is interested in health professions education. She is the chair of the MBChB curriculum review committee which has undertaken this major task to align the teaching of undergraduate medical students with 21st century ideals. Sumaiya is also the EPA lead on the national WBA steering committee. Her research in medical education focuses on curriculum development, assessment, and use of technology and innovative tools in resource constrained settings.
