Professional Bio
Prof Veena Singaram is the Head of the Health Professions Education (HPE) unit in the College Teaching and Learning Office at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. She has a doctorate in health professions education (HPE) from Maastricht University in the Netherlands and a fellowship from the Sub-Saharan African Foundation for Advancement in Medical Education Research (FAIMER). She is an executive member of the national Work-based Assessments (WBAs) and Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) committees in South Africa. UKZN School of Clinical Medicine awarded her the REACHT Academic Award (2021) and the Technology Innovation Teaching Award (2022). Prof Singaram was also awarded the Distinguished Educator Award from the Southern African Association of Health Professions Educationalists (2022) and is a Karolinska Institutet’s Prize for Research in Medical Education Fellow (2023).
